High grade office accommodation providing 7,100m2, of floor area over six floors located in the centre of Bristol. The structure comprised a post-tensioned concrete frame to minimise storey heights and in conjunction with high levels of enery efficiency it achieved a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating. Basement car parking is provided below the entire footprint of the £35m development.
The foundations were designed to avoid archaeological features and the piled foundations of the former building that occupied the site.
The central atrium houses a feature curved cantilever steel staircase with glass balustrading. Clarkebond worked closely to devise temporary works solutions. Temporary sheet piled walls were installed around the perimeter of the site to enable the basement to be excavated and temporary cantilever beams were provided to support scaffolding that oversailed the adjacent building.
