Singleton Hospital

The scheme involved the replacement of the original 1960’s façade to provide a face lift to the building.

The original structure comprised of a 7-storey steel frame supporting precast beam and block planks with a services zone located between each floor. Structural assessments of the existing frame was undertaken to confirm that the structure could support the proposed new façade. Complications included the presence of asbestos within the service voids and within the existing cladding which meant that structural support could not be obtained from these elements which had to remain in place and intact during the course of the construction work.
