Glanrhyd Hospital Bridgend
As part of a larger commision involving numerous serperate schemes to modernise mental health services in Bridgend, Clarkebond was invited to provide civil structural and geoenvironmental engineering input into this scheme providing 100 beds associated with Rehabilitation and Continuing Care. The majority of the beds were to be provided on a site bounded by a retained Victorian building, a sited in a landscape conservation area and a flood plain.
Key to success of the project was how the development could best be phased to enable refurbishment of the existing building whilst demolishing out dated accomodation, clearing the site, and construction of the new buildings and associated site infrastructure. Cost circa £12m.
