East India Dock, London

The design of this office development, with ground level retail accommodation in London's Docklands, integrates a £20m bespoke facade design - high specification granite hand set 40mm sheets on steel trays, integrated with the stick aluminium curtain wall system.

The specification of the design led to complex incorporation of the finite tolerance of the facade to the much larger construction tolerances at the frame, and the design of specific window openings to respond to the differing thermal conditions. This included the adoption of reflective glass to reduce internal solar and heat gain and control of light penetration, working in tandem with the air-conditioned spaces.
