Blackwall Reach

Working with English Partnerships (now part of Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the new national housing and regeneration agency for England) Tower Hamlets Council is addressing the deterioration of the existing 1970s Robin Hood estate within the wider context of the scheme for Blackwall Reach, just west of the Blackwall Tunnel approach in London.

Design options for the site - 214 apartments, a sports ground, medical centre and a large recreation area - recommended its demolition to make way of a vibrant sustainable community of new homes, shops and community facilities.

Taking into account the constraints of the site and the proximity of a major telecommunications hub, the main fibre optic facility for London, clarkebond prepared an energy and utility strategy including a prosposal for a multi-utility service company (MUSCO) to generate assets for the utilities, reducing the investment burden on the client.
