Assistant / Graduate Engineer – Hydrology and Flood Risk

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate engineer to join our growing and dynamic team. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse and interesting range of projects throughout the UK and across different sectors including the engineering, hydrology, environmental, renewable energy, residential, commercial, industrial, education and health sectors. Your key duties will include undertaking flood risk assessments, producing SUDS & drainage strategies and conducting hydrological and surface water runoff calculations.
You will liaise with the client, regulatory / statutory authorities and other stakeholders and formulate recommendations for sustainable development, as well as on occasion attend site visits. You will also contribute to planning applications and author environmental appraisals and technical reports.
Our ideal Engineer:
You will be a graduate with a relevant geography, engineering or scientific degree and will have a good technical background, ideally having already undertaken some relevant work experience.
You will have good written and verbal communication skills and be aware of current and emerging technical and planning guidance on the various areas of environmental sciences, hydrology/water environment and engineering, including issues of sustainability.
We encourage and mentor our staff towards chartered status and you will be expected to work towards chartership status of a relevant professional organisation (e.g. CIWEM, ICE). Knowledge of flood estimation handbook (FEH) and AutoCAD, ReFH, WINFAP-FEH or PDS skills are desirable; however, what’s essential is a proactive approach, enthusiasm to develop new skills and to manage your own workload and prioritise work appropriately.
