YGG Brynmawr Primary School
This scheme comprises the construction of a new £5million Welsh medium primary school which will cater for 180 pupils.
The building comprises a 2-storey teaching block with a single storey hall. The structural design comprises of steel frame with composite reinforced concrete floors to keep beam depths to a minimum, supported off a reinforced concrete pad and strip foundation supported off vibro stone columns. The elevations to the school are sloping and the main steel columns are designed to follow this profile.
The external works comprise the construction of a new bus turning and drop off area, two new playing fields and a SUDS surface water system comprising of an attenuation pond linking to an adjacent culverted watercourse.
The school has achieved a BREEAM excellent rating.
