Planning secured for HAB residential development

A team of Clarkebond engineers has helped secure planning consent for a development of 50 homes in Kings Worthy Winchester to be built by residential development company HAB, the company established by Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud.

Clarkebond provided a range of engineering and design services for the scheme masterplan and to support the planning application including civil, structural, geotechnical, transportation, drainage, utilities and flood risk assessment.

The development, to be built by HAB (Happiness, Architecture, Beauty), at Kings Worthy will include homes from 1-bed to 5-bed in a semi-rural site on Lovedon Lane on the edge of the historic village, just two miles from the cathedral city of Winchester. Alongside the homes, the proposals include allotments, wildflower meadows and a village green. As part of the scheme, HAB plans would enable the doubling in size of the adjacent local park and deliver a range of wider community facilities, which could include a new biodiverse country park area and a circular cycle path for children.  HAB’s mission is to ‘make homes that lift the spirits that are a pleasure to live in and a joy to behold’.

The scheme is due to be completed in 2017.
