Planning application in AONB receives unanimous approval

An application by Bellway Homes and Archstone to build 228 homes on a Greenfield site in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Chipping Norton has been approved by West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC) with unanimous approval from council members.

Clarkebond has provided a range of pre-planning services to support the scheme including flood risk assessment, drainage strategy, geo-environmental services, utility advice, travel plan and a transport assessment.  The planning application is the culmination of some 5 years of promotion and pre-application consultation for Archstone, with Barton Wilmore providing master planning, planning and landscape architecture services and EDP on Ecology and archeology.

In addition to the 228 new homes of which 40% will be affordable housing, the application includes a new club house for Chipping Norton Football Club and a new landscaped edge to the town, incorporating a footpath and cycleway. The scheme has been designed in line with WODC’s sustainability targets and features an extensive soakaway network to reduce surface water runoff and aid water quality, that includes permeable roadways and paving, infiltration blankets under public open spaces and trench soakaways in private spaces.
