St Johns Hall, University of Northampton, Completed
The £19m project consisted of the construction of circa 470 student accommodation units housed within eight blocks varying in height between 4 and 8 storeys.
There is a large fall across the site which results in the blocks being founded at three different levels. An inner landscaped courtyard area is provided at 3 levels.
The buildings have been constructed using a reinforced concrete frame incorporating flat slabs and blade columns. The elevations are clad in brickwork utilising Metframe inner lining. The buildings are supported on a system of pile caps and ground beams with full height retaining walls provided at the change in levels.
Clarkebond were commissioned to supply civil, structural and geoenvironmental services on the project.
