O2 Centre

Sandwiched between the Metropolitan tube line and the Intercity line to King's Cross the design of this 27,000m2 centre brought complex challenges.

The site incorporates a basement superstore, with a 25m swimming pool above, along with an eight-screen multiplex cinema. The building structure utilises a reinforced concrete frame above the superstore to create a 'stiff box' for the pool above which a steel frame reduces the foundation loads and enables long spans for the acoustically design cinemas.

The building also includes a 30m diameter circular atrium with planar glazed roof, a 300 space car park and large store to the rear.
