Chambers Wharf

Chambers Wharf

Developed by St Martins, this £200m development near Tower Bridge, London comprises 596 private and affordable housing units accommodated in six tower blocks ranging between six and 14 storeys in height.

Each of the towers has been designed at a cascading angle so as to take advantage of the riverside views while adhering to the rights of light to the surrounding buildings. As a result of its riverside location the site is complex; flood risk assessments (FRA's) and breach modelling determined the removal of an existing jetty and the construction of a new, higher river wall.

The project achieves an EcoHomes 'excellent' rating, incorporating combined heat and power units, ground source heating/cooling, solar panels for water heating, rainwater harvesting and 13 wind turbines positioned along the bank.

Services: civil engineering, structural engineering, geoenvironmental engineering.
